No.: Buspar (buspirone) and Klonopin are from two different classes of drugs. Buspar (buspirone) is not a benzodiazepine and does not cause tolerance or withdrawal. Klonopin is a benzodiazepine and does cause tolerance and withdrawal. Symptoms of withdrawal from Klonopin like increased anxiety, tremor, seizures, and possible death if severe would not be helped by buspar (buspirone). If taper off of Klonopin needed, use like medication.

Anxiety medication: I would consider an antidepressant that is also used for GAD. The SSRI's such as citalopram or sertraline are such examples. These medications help with longer-term anxiety management. I would also recommend finding a therapist if you don't have one already, as a therapist can help you develop tools and skills to manage anxiety as a supplement to any medications you may take.

yesterday my psychiatric nurse practitioner took me off klonopin abruptly and replaced it with buspar (buspirone).  now i am experiencing klonopin withdrawal symptoms.  what should i do?

Abrupt withdrawal: from Klonopin can cause seizures. Buspar (buspirone) when used with antidepressants can cause serotonergic syndrome. You need to contact the physician supervising the nurse and advise them of your situation. This was probably an over-site. Go to the ER ( I would call ahead to make sure they can address your situation) if you are having problems coming off the Klonopin.  I would taper down to 1/4 mg before d/c

what is a good drug for dealing with klonopin withdrawal? went from .5mg (daily for 3mo) to .25 and now i'm down to .125, but the anxiety, tension, brain fog is pretty bad. buspar? gabapentin?

Medications interact: Zzzquil is Diphenhydramine 50 mg, an antihistamine. In combo with Zoloft, BusPar (buspirone), (buspirone) Ativan and/or Klonopin it may increase dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating. Zoloft and BusPar (buspirone) increase serotonin and rarely may cause serious serotonin syndrome in which case seek immediate medical attention. Sleep hygiene is best for sleep with meds as necessary, Work with prescriber, Best regards.

Anxiety &amp; pregnancy: Buspar is a different medication than Klonopin, so it is understandable that it was not an even replacement. There are risks to taking Klonopin while pregnant, however, so I would discuss the risks vs benefits with your OB-GYN before going back on the Klonopin. Buspar is not the only option to replace Klonopin, so I would discuss alternatives with your OB as well.

does any of these meds onterfere with calcium eing absorbed.synthroid, buspar, zoloft, evista, adderall, lyrica, (pregabalin) voltaren, zocor, klonopin, lamictal, biotin?
