Most Likely Not: Symptoms: abdominal pain, abdominal distention, vomiting, no flatus (gas) and no bowel movement. Most common cause of no bm is constipation. See your doctor because constipation can be a presenting symptom of something else like hypothyroidism. Drink plenty of fluids.

Dissolve powder: The powder (polyethylene glycol) gets dissolved in water or other liquid-becomes tastelss liquid, not gummy. Do not self treat possible impaction or obstruction.  See md.  Bowel obstruction can be a big deal; laxatives are contraindicated  (i.e. Do not use) if obstructed.  Fecal impactions  and possible obstructions need to be evaluated by md before advising appropriate rx.

very good evening doctors. i have not had a bowel movement in over 4 days..since last wednesday today is sunday evening. i do not feel ill. would you please have any suggestions? how would i know if i have fecal impaction or bowel obstruction?

: Fecal impaction is diagnosed by a rectal exam so without that cant say that you have it. Int. Obst causes bloating, nausea/vomiting and abd. pain and absence of passing gas. You dont have that. Take a strong laxative like Miralax and if you still dont have a BM pl see your MD. Hope you do well

: In fecal impaction there is the urge to go every few minutes small bits of stool may come out and a rectal exam shos a large lump of stool. Int.Obs. -No gas or stool is passed, abd. distention, pain &amp; nausea and vomiting. Constipation is infrequent passage of stool, incomplete emptying and can be helped with laxatives etc. Try taking a strong laxative, and see your MD for proper regularization

can a ct scan miss a partial bowel obstruction/impaction? i had a ct-didnt show anything but i havent had bm in over a week-feel pain and fullness. ive tried milk of mag, 2 enemas, suppositories, miralax, and mag citrate. there has to be something

Doubtful: : that CT scan missed anything; however, you are using  way too much laxative: I suggest forcing fluids- 8-10  8 oz. glasses of electrolyte rich sports drinks and add 1 pck of MIRALAX to every second or third glass. Upper and lower endoscopy would be helpful. You may have inflammed your bowel with overmedication.

: As long as you pass gas you are not in obstruction. You can have impaction. Best is to get checked by your MD who will also treat it.

Depends: Did you have surgery to treat the obstruction? Were you hospitalized and treated medically only? Are you describing bowel constipation? Takes 4-6 weeks to recover from surgery. Takes a few days to recover after medical treatment. Would need much more detailed medical information to answer further.
