what do you suggest if i am 16 yrs old.i can do 50 pushups maybe 60 and 40 knuckle push ups, any exercises for me strengthen my arm?

Pushups: Maybe add some pull-ups and free weights in increasing amounts...  start with more reps and lower weights to make sure you do not hurt yourself. Start with biceps/triceps and wrist flexion and extension. Never train only one 'side' of an extremity... always do the agonist and antagonists equally much. Good luck!

even after completely recovering from boxer's fracture, is it risky to do knuckle push ups, punching sandbags etc. while having metal plate placed on your 5th metacarpal bone ?

Not really: if you healed completely,they will be no restrictions on your boxing,or any activity associated with it.
the metal plate is permanent,unless it start causing any problem,but it will not be a reason to restricted your activities.

i have a wrist pain on the top part of my hand whenever i put any type of pressure like doing pushups, is this carpaltunnel or something else?

Accepted Answer

Tendonitis: Most common etiology for dorsal wrist pain is tendonitis with pain at the extensor retinaculum. If loading the wrist causes pain than would be concerned about possible ligament injury particularly if you have had any wrist trauma. Carpal tunnel causes numbness and tingling in median nerve distribution on palmar side of the hand. Seek care from hand surgeon.

my wrist pops when i rotate it, and when i push my hand backwards my wrist hurts..or when i do pushups it hurts quite a bit?

You may have : Strained some of the tendons & ligaments. Hold off push-ups & other wrist stress for a couple of wks, (substitute other arm exercises), then gradually resume, starting w wall push-ups, then bench, then floor push-ups .  For now, use ice packs 3 times a day (frozen peas work well). Ibuprofen for a few days to decrease inflammation. When pain free, start stretching your wrists.

Hyperextended: You may have hyperextended your wrist if in the push up position and/or developed what is commonly known as a a repetitive strain injury (if you have been doing lots of push ups/yoga etc).  Sometimes we just overuse a small joint that isn't used to it or accidentally put too much stretch in the joint - leading to inflammation in the tendons.  Try icing 20 min as needed and give your wrist rest.

tfcc injured. after 2 months with a splint i can do pushups without pain. is this a good thing? still hurts when i rotate my hand to the limit.

Wrist injuries: The splint immobilized your wrist and allowed scar tissue to help heal it. Your wrist seems to be healing, based on your ability to do pushups. See your physician or physical therapy for further evaluation of the hand rotation. Pain: the bone can be injured, or  intercarpal ligaments You will probably need a CT scsan to determine if a fracture, or dislocation may have occurred.

Rest: Fracture/Dislocation of hand requires immobilization, rest for healing, especially if you have disrupted ligaments. You have not indicated the anatomical part of the hand, wrist, metacarpals, or phalanges (fingers). Get seen by MD, get X-rays, immobilize and use RICE.
RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compress with ace (in your case thumb spica splint or cast if MD indicates) and NSAIDs (unless fracture)
