Tendonitis: Most common etiology for dorsal wrist pain is tendonitis with pain at the extensor retinaculum. If loading the wrist causes pain than would be concerned about possible ligament injury particularly if you have had any wrist trauma. Carpal tunnel causes numbness and tingling in median nerve distribution on palmar side of the hand. Seek care from hand surgeon.

Sprain: Doubt carpal tunnel which generally presents with numbness/tingling in all or some of fingers: thumb, index, long (middle), and partially ring finger. A sprain, stress injury from repetetive use or impaction, ganglion cyst are common causes. See an orthopedist for proper diagnosis.
