Yes: Any process occurring in the abdomen could potentially lead to referred pain to adjacent structures, so the rib pain may be from appendix. The pain could also be due to a different process, such as fracture or inflammation from the appendix. Have you spoken to your doctor about the pain? Have you had a recent chest x-ray or other diagnostic imaging? Do you have fever? Have you had recent labs?

Rib/Chest Pain: Does it hurt to take a deep breath? Did you suffer any injury to the area? Are you getting over a "cold, " you  could have a bruised rib, or you might have a muscle strain or post-viral myopathy. These will heal in a few days. Sometimes, there is referred pain from the stomach or intestines. Are there any other symptoms - fever, diarrhea, fatigue? Call your md if it doesn't go away in a few days.

Could: Hunger could lead to un neutralised acid exposure causing ulcers in the stomach or duodenium. That could cause pain. Regular eating and antacids or h2 blockers or oroton pump inhibitors could be helpful.

Not uncommon: This is usually when the technologist injects cck.  Cck causes the gallbladder to contract and allows the tech to measure the ejection fraction (how well the gallbladder empties).  Some healthy people feel pain when cck is injected, especially if injected quickly.  In some people, if the cck reproduces the patient's usual pain, this is one possible indicator of gallbladder dysfunction.

Many possibilities: Pain under the ribs can be due to an underlying problem or referred pain from another area.  On the right side, it could be your gallbladder, given your gender and age, this is a strong possibility.  On the left side, stomach problems can cause discomfort,  underlying kidney infection, pancreas disorders, musculoskeletal problems, liver or spleen problems, can also manifest with rib discomfort.

Gall bladder: It is not uncommon tho have rt sided pain under the ribs as the only symptom of gall bladder disease as stone  or biliary dyskinesis.
