Many possibilities: Pain under the ribs can be due to an underlying problem or referred pain from another area. On the right side, it could be your gallbladder, given your gender and age, this is a strong possibility. On the left side, stomach problems can cause discomfort, underlying kidney infection, pancreas disorders, musculoskeletal problems, liver or spleen problems, can also manifest with rib discomfort.
