Rib/Chest Pain: Does it hurt to take a deep breath? Did you suffer any injury to the area? Are you getting over a "cold, " you could have a bruised rib, or you might have a muscle strain or post-viral myopathy. These will heal in a few days. Sometimes, there is referred pain from the stomach or intestines. Are there any other symptoms - fever, diarrhea, fatigue? Call your md if it doesn't go away in a few days.
