Trauma/age: Pttd or tear is very common in females. It is usually due to activities, flat foot, shoe gear and possible hormonal changes and pregnancies. The reason why the inside of your heel hurts, it is due the pathway the tendon travels. If MRI has been done and a tear is detected, many things could be done. Bracing, orthotics, and surgery can help. See a podiatrist.

Repair: Peroneal tendon tears, usaully intrasubstance or partial tears are difficult to treat conservatively.  Once the MRI determines the extent and location of the rupture, the tendon can be repaired by various procedures...Tubularization, debridement or replacement.  Amniotic membrane is showing a promising treatment by wrapping the torn tendon.

It could heal: But if you are a pronator make sure to wear an ankle brace or an orthotic, you need to take stress off of the tendon or it will not heal.

Normal: With peroneal tendon repair, there is most likely suture and/or a graft that was used.   It takes a long time for it to absorb or incorporate to your tissues--scar tissue can also cause pain/swelling for a while.  I would expect swelling for a year or more.  If the pain is very severe, there is always the chance that you have a recurrence (unlikely).  Rest and take antinflammatory medication.

You can't: There is no way you can tell. If you have concerns, you should contact your surgeon to evaluate the ankle. Meanwhile, a good rule of thumb is "if it hurts, don't do it!" follow your post-op instructions and get the ankle checked.

It is possible.: Everyone's anatomy is slightly different. Most people have their main bloods supply felt either on the top of the foot or on the medial side of the foot, which is opposite of where the peroneal tendons are located. The peroneal tendon does NOT go into the toes. There are 2; longus, which ends in the midfoot area and the brevis: which ends at the base of the fifth metatarsal.

can doctors do arthoscopic for peroneal tendon subluxation? and will i still need a cast? can this be done if you have plates in ankle?

No: Peroneal tendon subluxation requires reconstruction of the torn tissue ( retinaculum) that is allowing these tendons to subluxate( slip out of place).The presence of a fibular plate is not a problem in the surgical procedure( which is done in an 'open' fashion).best of luck!

See below: Sounds like a strain or sprain.  Try to use a wrap or brace to control the tendon motion.  If no help in a week see a doctor
