Enterobacter: This germ is somewhat related to "E. coli" which you might have heard about. It is found in the GI tract -bowels mostly. When it gets 'out' of the area it's supposed to be in, it can cause disease. I think of urinary tract infections, intraabdominal abscesses and sometimes blood stream infections caused from this germ. It is somewhat tough so you might need an ID doc if it gets complicated.

Yes: Enterobacter aerogenes is a bacteria that can cause a variety of infections such as urinary tract infections, sepsis, pneumonia, skin/wound infections.  It typically does not occur in people who are otherwise healthy.  It can be picked up by patients who are hospitalized, particularly in an intensive care unit.  It can be picked up from contaminated surfaces. Antibiotic resistance can be a problem.

2. what are the antibiotic sensitivities to the bacteria? 
3. Are there systemic symptoms (like fever, chills, malaise?).

: If the 50,000 CFU/ml was in urine, you may have urinary infection and that can cause stomach pain. Talk to the doctor who ordered this test as she/he knows more about your health. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.

Post op infection: Had surgery complicated by bacterial  wound infection treated by having surgery to reopen surgical siite to clean out the infection &  to identify the organism & then to be on usually 6 weeks of IV antibiotics to cure infection.  This is a surgical risk increased in: smokers, diabetics, people with poor nutrition  or certain rheumatologic/renal diseases or on chronic steroids or imunocompromised.

: This is a bacteria commonly found in the digestive tract. It is of little importance to anyone with a normal immune system. An overabundance of the germ can  reflect poor gut germ balance &amp; simple use of probiotics (benign germ colonies) can re-balance the system.

: Clearly you have a UTI caused by E. aerogenes, and perhaps bacterial prostatitis as well. If you're not in the care of a urologist, you should see one now. If you are, follow his or her advice. E. aerogenes is no more serious or dangerous than many other bacteria, but you definitely need antibiotic treatment, perhaps for as long as 6 weeks or more. Good luck.

The abdominal or flank pain likely indicates your right kidney is involved (pyelonephritis) which is a potentially serious complication. You may need IV antibiotics, especially if you have fever. No!: Galactosemia cannot be cured. But, you can take steps to prevent or minimize galactosemia symptoms and complications. The treatment is the strict avoidance of all sources of galactose. The most common source is lactose, which is the milk sugar that breaks down to galactose and glucose. Avoid: milk or milk by-products, fermented soy products, legumes, organ meats, & hydrolyzed protein.
