Post op infection: Had surgery complicated by bacterial wound infection treated by having surgery to reopen surgical siite to clean out the infection & to identify the organism & then to be on usually 6 weeks of IV antibiotics to cure infection. This is a surgical risk increased in: smokers, diabetics, people with poor nutrition or certain rheumatologic/renal diseases or on chronic steroids or imunocompromised.

Post op infection: Anterior cervical dissection- post op infection with an Enterobacter aerogenes should be treated with antibiotics particularly ifyouhave fever and WBC elevation. Your neurosurgeon may further advise you after a ct scan, whether you have a hematoma or abscess which needs to be drained. Looks like you are being taken care of.
