Varies: It depends on the cause of hyperactivity. There are many reasons for an ad child to be hyperactive.  You, behavioral assistant, speech therapists, pt, teachers, and doctors need to figure out why. If child is chronically ill, frustrated, anxious, in pain, obsessing, he could be hyperactive. There is no one medication to use in a recipe fashion.

: Giving Naltrexone to autistic children is still in the experimental phase of trials. It is definitely not something that should be done at home without medical guidance. Talk to the child's Pediatrician for the best options in each situation as they will have the ability to assess and follow any medical interventions. Other treatments involving occupational and social therapy show  great results.

can someone with autism and not adhd take medications intended for adhd to help with executive functioning problems like low motivation and distractibility?

: Researchers have tried a variety of medications in the past decades to assist these impairments of function with inconsistent results. Most patients have a unique expression of their disorder and may or may not respond to a trial of ADHD meds. If tried any benefit should be noticeable within the first days of a trial. I doubt it would be a benefit but each case is unique.
