Varies: It depends on the cause of hyperactivity. There are many reasons for an ad child to be hyperactive. You, behavioral assistant, speech therapists, pt, teachers, and doctors need to figure out why. If child is chronically ill, frustrated, anxious, in pain, obsessing, he could be hyperactive. There is no one medication to use in a recipe fashion.

As Dr. E. said, an: Evaluation for the cause of hyperkinesis in a child with ASD must be done by a child psychiatrist or developmental/behavioral pediatrician to determine treatment. Information from the child's behavioral therapist, ot, slt, teacher & parents + neuropsychological testing is optimal for assessment. 40-70% of kids with ASD have adhd. You can use low doses of the same meds used for non-autistic kids.
