A member asked:

Can someone with autism and not adhd take medications intended for adhd to help with executive functioning problems like low motivation and distractibility?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Researchers have tried a variety of medications in the past decades to assist these impairments of function with inconsistent results. Most patients have a unique expression of their disorder and may or may not respond to a trial of ADHD meds. If tried any benefit should be noticeable within the first days of a trial. I doubt it would be a benefit but each case is unique.
