Which is it ?: A 3 mo with cold symptoms only requires their nose be rinsed out with nasal saline. There is no value to cough/cold meds at that age.  A 3 mo with flu can become deadly sick &amp; needs to be evaluated &amp; possibly monitored in a hospital. If you are just guessing that the kid is sick, decide on an evaluation based on how they look/act. If it spooks you go in.

Prescription med: There is a prescription for the flu in babies.  Try your best to not infect her.  It will be hard since you live in the same house.  Have her seen at the beginning of any symptoms, such as fever with cough, runny or stuffy nose.

my 3 month old baby used to have a flu but now it seems its in her chest sounds like a dry cough.  i am exclusively breastfeeding and treated the cold with illiaden and saline in the nebulizer. i am currently only treating the cough with saline. ?

Saline sounds ok: Babies can easily catch colds from other people. If there is just a runny nose, without much fussiness, without any high fever, without other worrisome symptoms, then parents may leave the nose alone. If there is mucus in the cough and mild wheezing, a doctor might diagnose bronchiolitis... for which nebulized saline can help. We don't use Iliadin nasal spray for babies in the US.

i have bodyaches, weak, no fever or cough & i feel very cold. could this be the flu? i'm a breastfeeding mother to a 3 month old baby.

It is possible: That you may be coming down with the flu especially if you are not getting enough sleep. You will be more prone to catching a cold or any virus. Get plenty of sleep, eat properly and take something to help you feel better. Otherwise you will have to see your pcp. Get the flu shot if you have not had yours yet.

Yes it is..: Flu vaccination is indeed recommended for virtually everyone age 6-months and older, ulness specific contraindication such as severe egg allergies. Like all meds/injections, they carry risk, but the risk from flu vaccine is small--injection site soreness, mild flu-like symptoms etc...But the benefit is significant: it saves many lives yearly. Consult doc. Good luck.

Depends : If this is really the flu & baby is in bad shape the tamiflu can be used along with IV fluids & other supportive measures. If the baby is not hospitalized, most just support with fluids & comfort medications during the process. Stuffy nose & dry cough in a 2mo could be just nasal irritation from dust/smoke/fragrance or other such air born debris.Nasal wash out with saline would be preferred rx.

Covid: It is that they will test positive and your 7 year old already has mild symptoms.  Children appear to tolerate Covid much better than . Treat symptomatically (acetaminophen,ibuprofen for fever ), hydration. Continue to breast feed.

Avoid contact: She should avoid contact with your mom. Good hand washing, keeping surfaces clean and keeping a distance from household members may reduce transmission. She should stay at home for 7 days after the resolution of symptoms. To feed the baby, Dad or another member of the family may feed the baby to allow her to rest and avoid contact with the baby while ill. If the baby becomes ill, M.D. to see.

Yes: Flu is marked by fever in most patients and can be extreme. The primary complication I worry about is flu pneumonia which would be marked by breathing difficulty. At 8 mo Ibuprofen may be a longer acting fever reducer.
