Lower Jaw Shift: The clear retainer is also acting as a bite splint. This causes the jaw muscles to relax as apposed to them being held in a more functioning position which may be a result of your surgery. Healing should allow the muscles to accommodate to a more neutral position and shifting should go away.. if not I would suggest a return visit to your oral surgeon.

Interference: One of the problems with clear retainers is that they go over the chewing surfaces of the teeth and can cause interferences. You might be better off with a more traditional wire and plastic retainer. Ask your Orthodontic Specialist to reevaluate.
