A member asked:

Will a lubricated speculum affect your chlamydia/gonorrhea result during a cervical swab?

The test looks for the genetic material contained in the germs. The germs do not need to be alive or retrieved intact for the material to be found. This is not altered by the simple lubricants used in specimen collection.
