Friday i found out i have a uti, and was prescribed macrobid, i had unprotected sex saturday and im on birth control. i also took phenazopyridine on saturday morning and monday morning. do these affect the effectiveness of birth control? am i safe?

You're entirely safe. The business about antibiotics interfering with birth control pills or other hormonal contraceptions is almost an urban myth. It is exceedingly rare and doesn't occur at all with most antibiotics. Nitrofurantion (Macrobid) has no such effect. Phenazypyridine isn't an antibiotic and also has no effect.

They do not. You are safe.. You will feel better faster if you can hold sex till you recover from UTI for sex can irritate the bladder area Dont forget to drink water. Keep well
