This certainly could be herpes, either a very mild first infection or a recurrent outbreak of a previous infection if acquired more than 2-3 months ago. Accurate HSV testing by PCR test of the lesion should be done ASAP; 5 days may be too late. Try and work out a quicker visit, if only for a quick swab and out the door; in that case, the result may be available for your appointment in 5 days.
