Pap smears have been used for decades prior to our understanding the link between cervical cancer and some strains of HPV. If your doc recommended a retest in 6 mo, that is standard when the Pap does not show cancer but does show some changes that may eventually turn into it. I doubt the pressure has anything to do with this issue beyond your dread of the possibility, but discuss with your doc.
