A person with genital warts is much more contagious than latent HPV infection. Please note that not all genital warts are caused by carcinogenic HPV strains. Once infected, HPV can be latent in your body or your body's immunologic response may eradicate it. Your wife was vaccinated so she is likely protected from the carcinogenic HPV strains although not 100%.
