When an "inguinal hernia" starts to enlarge or provide symptoms as described, it is time to see a surgeon to correct the hernia. Avoiding a surgical repair can lead to a surgical emergency with strangulation of intestine.

If a hernia gives discomfort it should be corrected. You can wear a hernia support belt or have it repaired. If not you might continue to have the symptoms. Prednisolone should not be taken for this.
