How good are blood tests for hsv 1 and 2? i have adult acne, folliculitis, sometimes skin boils, and i occasionally get pimples in my groin area and even on the shaft of my penis. i've had several negative blood tests for hsv 1 and 2. concern?

Rapid serologic testing has positive and negative predictive values of 92 and 99 percent, respectively. It means if you are tested negative, 99 percent you do not have HSV infection. Because you were tested (-) many times so chance of HSV infection is almost zero by statistics.

They are accurate if done properly. Your symptoms are probably not related to them. Pl se good dermatologist. In the meantime dont rub or burst the pimples. Use a bactericidal soap and keep good skin hygiene. Good luck.
