A very small breach of the skin or mucosa due to scratch or any form of trauma could allow the HPV virus to enter the body from an infected source. The trauma or scratch may be during sex or during normal activities of life if the virus is present. Dry skin could allow a crack in the skin and may allow entry of the virus.
