A member asked:

Ive heard hpv can be transmitted by skin-to-skin contact. so, if a caregiver has hpv, can i or my children get it by being around her? no sexual intimate interactions but hugging or holding? is all hpv considered as std even flat warts on the face?

It is quite rare if your child's skin is intact but still possible, the risk is higher when the skin is open, such as a cut and it has direct contact with the wart. Flat warts on face are called non genital warts. Genital warts are transmitted via sexual activity (STD).

HPV is a family of dozens of strains, each specific to the locations they live. Genital strains only infect genital skin, common skin warts only infect regular skin. There is a direct friction component to skin wart transfer, which might be an issue for wrestlers with exposed warts. Unless the caregiver is rubbing those warts against your kid I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't pass like staph.
