HSV2 transmission: HSV2 is only acquired sexually, usually genital, primarily during years of maximum sexual activity, in your case probably over 40 yr ago. Often asymptomatic, with outbreaks starting later, often near but not on genitals (e.g. buttoks). Only transmitted by sex, not toilet seats, towels, shared bedding, etc. No risk for household contacts. Use common sense hygiene (e.g. hand washing after toilet).
