A 20-year-old male asked:

Can you get infected by a high-risk strain of hpv (ones that cause cervical cancer) from wearing someone's unwashed worn underwear if they have those high-risk strains?

HPV ?'s: HPV is highly contagious and may be transmitted from genital contact with virus if present in the "unwashed underwear". There are many different genetic variants of HPV, only a few of which are more likely to cause abnormal cells in the cervix, and those are detectable and treatable early if pap smears are done regularly.
