A 31-year-old male asked:

I have had a burning sensation in the rectum area for months now. i have had a history of hemorrhoids. no blood with stool. i saw my gp and told him of this and my symptom of stopping and starting near end of urinating. he thinks prostatitis. is it?

Prostatitis: Prostatitis is usually a febrile illness with perineal or low back pain associated with chills and myalgia. Dysruia, frequency , hesitancy may be present. Urinary retention common especially in older men. Your prostate should have been boggy and tender.
