The basics: The HPV virus spreads by direct skin to skin contact from a donor infected party to the recipient. Simple handwashing does remove the virus but it is not spread like other germs (strep, staph) that easily pass by casual contact.

It makes it MUCH less likely that the herpes will spread to you. As in much of medicine, nothing is absolute. Spread is less likely, not impossible
