A member asked:

I was diagnosed with syphilis 09.2016(rpr 4+, vdrl-). i made new tests and my vdrl is possitive and my blood tests are 3+ again (rpr, vdrl). is it normal? did i cure my syphilis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

RPR and VDRL tests: These tests detect antibodies to the causative agent in syphilis, and even after appropriate treatment, the tests remain positive sometimes for weeks. Get repeat testing in another month, and the amount of antibodies should decrease.
