Ceftriaxone is: used to treat gonorrhea as a single injection dose. Dual therapy for gonococcal infections (i.e., with ceftriaxone in a single intramuscular dose, in combination with either azithromycin or doxycycline) is now recommended to also treat Chlamydia.

See below: It probably takes a few days for all the chlamydia to be killed by the zithromax. It would not be enough to treat pid, however. You would need to take antibiotics that cover gram positive and gram negative and anaerobic bacteria.

Both good: Both are reasonably good tests. The urine sample has the advantage of allowing patients to get checked without subjecting themselves to a pelvic exam which deters some people.

How long does it take for chlamydia to make a female infertile?

Depends: If treated, chlamydia can be cured. Sexually active women under 25 should be tested. Untreated, about 40% of women with untreated chlamydia will develop pelvic inflammatory disease (pid). Pid infects the cells of the cervix, spreads to the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries causing infertility.
