Let me explain: People get gonorrhea by having sex with someone who has the disease. “having sex” means anal, vaginal, or oral sex. The affected throat resembles a strep throat with redness and occasionally may have some white spots or whitish/yellow discharge. Chlamydia is the most commonly reported std in the United States. Patients with oral chlamydia can develop a sore throat like symptoms.

No symptoms: Gonorrhea often infects the throat and is present in 5-10% of women with gonorrhea, acquired by performing fellatio (oral sex) on infected men. Oral chlamydia happens but is much less common; chlamydia doesn't take hold very well in the throat. Both are usually without symptoms -- no sore throat, nothing. Absence of symptoms says nothing about whether you might have it. Testing is needed
