Viral infection: Cold sores are symptoms of herpes simplex infections, which can be primary or recurrent; once you have the infection, the virus goes latent in your body and resurfaces during times of stress.

Cold sore: A cold sore involves the border areas between the skin and mucous membrane and is often mistaken for a canker sore which occurs only on the mucous membrane and not the skin. It is caused by hsvi and can be triggered by sun exposure, stress, another viral illness etc. If severe, your doctor can prescribe an anti-viral drug to hasten the healing.

Natural healing: Coldsores are usually caused by a virus and so have their own timing to heal. The good news is that area of the body has excellent blood supply and so inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling) occurs as the body increases blood flow to the injury to bring healing factors to the area and also the veins carry bad stuff away. No special tricks are needed, just stay healthy.

Herpes simplex : Cold sores are caused by the hsv1 virus. Initially, the cold sore appears as a cluster or single vesicle or blister on a red base. Over a few days, the blister opens and becomes crusted and then heals over the course of 1-2 weeks. The severity and length of the outbreak can be reduced using creams such as abreva or oral prescription anti-viral medications such as valtrex (valacyclovir).
