With an active lesion, use Valrex 500mg twice daily. Stress activates latent HPV, which in inactive state is attached to cell nuclei. Once in the blood stream, in the "active"state, antivirals are helpful in decreasing active ulcers. Once infected, at the present there is no way of treating inactive HPV for inducing a "cure".

First, are you sure the lesions are herpes? At the corner of the mouth, angular cheilitis is a lot more common than herpes. (Google it for more information.) If you have confirmed recurrent oral herpes (cold sores), the most recommended and easiest regimen is a single 2 gram dose of valacyclovir (Valtrex) at the first sign. Taking any additional doses makes no difference. Good luck!
