Normal: Because breastmilk is such a nutritious substance, sometimes almost all of it is absorbed, leaving little to move through the digestive tract. Stools may be infrequent -- perfectly normal breastfed infants may only have a bowel movement once a week.

Breast or formula ?: Breast fed infants can go a little every feed or overflow a diaper once a week. If it is soft when they go i don't worry about it. Formula fed babies usually have a more predictable pattern of daily stools. If stools are getting hard, i often try full strength prune juice, 1oz once or more/d.Takes about 3d to get things moving.

Normal: Some babies poop with every feed and others take 2 to 3 days. As long as the baby is feeding well and is not crying in pain and the belly is not distended it is fine.
