Sounds more : Like earwax rather than an infection.Red flag if with fever, fussy, runny nose, coughing etc. Persistent drainage from the ear need to be checked for possible ear infection.

Normal: Ear wax is created in the outer half of the ear canal & often in greater amounts in early childhood.When left alone it will work its way out & be easily removed with a cloth or scooped with a fingernail. If you use the silly "safety q-tips"sold in the baby isle you will push it in & make it harder to remove.
