Ing. hernias common: Indirect inguinal hernia repair is one of most common operations for pediatric surgeons & due to non closure of slip of peritoneum attached to & facilitating testicular descent. Are thus congenital and quite common into the 20s. Hernias in older men are due to weakness of abdominal wall musculature & are direct inguinal hernias. Indirect inguinal hernia could cause pain at penile base.
