Syphilis EIA pos RPR neg and TPPA neg 3 times over 45 days. HIV 4th tested for 5 times over 10 months all negative. What is the cause for repeated positive initial Syphilis EIA? Recent high CRP 7.2 and neutrophils high 9.4? is HIV PCR needed?
Is very very late syphilis hard to test for? I know RPR/VDRL can be negative, but will trep tests (CIA/EIA/TPPA/FTA) still be positive? Can anything affect them and turn them negative? Can sensitivity be low due to waning/fewer antibodies?
Would alcohol effect RPR or EIA syphilis blood test? Consumed over 36+ hours prior. Can it create a false negative?
