A 21-year-old member asked:

Can I legally force my teenage kid to get an STD test?

Dr. Marcus Degraw

No: All 50 states have laws allowing kids autonomy over dealing with stds. Although some states limit that to above ages 12 or 14 years old. In addition, its unethical to force teenagers to do anything medical (including drug and std testing). However, talk about this with your physician and allow him/her to discuss it with your child.

What is the recovery time after taking an antibiotic for chlamydia?

Very quick: Recovery time while on treatment and afterwards is very quick. There really is no "down-time" and one can work and function in their normal capacity during treatment. Use protection with a condom during treatment to prevent spreading the infection to others.

A 27-year-old female asked:

How likely is it for a man to contract chlamydia by receiving oral sex from a woman?

Dr. Wayne Ingram
Specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Mouth to penis CPR?: It is unlikely to transmit chlamydia unless the woman's mouth is already infected. In that case, it could produce a reaction(cpr). The mouth is rife with bacteria as opposed to the "cleaner" vagina, so before one "biblically knows" a partner, it is a great idea to know your partner well and remain monogamous.
