Safe, not curative: Zoladex (goserelin) is a drug which prevents the testicles from making testosterone, used to treat advanced prostate cancer. Prostate ca cells thrive in the presence of testosterone. Surgical removal of the testicles accomplishes the same purpose. Neither CURES metastatic prostate ca. Recent study suggests that patients with metastatic prostate ca do better with hormonal therapy + drug docetaxel.
