Fat replacement: After breast tumor surgery as with all surgical procedures there is an initial catabolic phase followed by an anabolic where there is a tendency to enhance appetite. In women over 40 there is a progressive replacement by breast tissue with fat which is why the mammogram is easier to read as a women gets older. Eventually most of the breast is gone and fat that replaces it causes drooping.

Need more info....: Was the tumor in your breast? Was it benign or cancerous. How long ago? Have you gained weight since? Enlargement of both breasts at age 49 usually is unrelated to any type of surgery. Extra estrogen (from pills, patches, or your natural hormones) can make the breasts swell. I hate to mention it, but could you be pregnant? Weight gain is a common cause. See your doctor if none of these.
