It depends...: ...on the type of herpes infection being treated. The infection itself may be cleared in only 1-5 days, but it can take a lot longer for symptoms to clear and healing to be complete -- faster for recurrent genital or oral herpes (HSV1 or HSV2), longer (somtimes 1-2 weeks) for initial HSV infection or for herpes zoster (shingles). Discuss with the doctor who prescribed it.
