Although some dr's: Feel comfortable with having patient's take these long-term, I am not one of them. I try to use them only briefly - while a person's ssri is building up in their system (not yet therapeutic). Klonopin (clonazepam) doesn't treat the underlying disorder & is addictive.

As long as you need : There are no realistic clinical guidelines for this. I have plenty of patients who have had their panic controlled for years on klonopin (clonazepam). Certainly we want to prescribe the lowest dose for the shortest period of time, but this will be dictated by the patient's illness, resources, availability of cognitive therapy in their area, and even things like poverty, home disclosures, and other stressors.

Panic , Klonopin (clonazepam): Klonopin (clonazepam) is a medication for anxiety and panic disorder. The medication can be habit forming. Please see your psychiatrist to assess degree of your panic symptoms , and your daily functioning at this time ; have psychotherapy to cope/overcome your symptoms, and set goal to decrease dosage of klonopin (clonazepam).
