A few ideas: You could have a polyp or fibroid that's the cause of this extended bleeding. At 46, however, you need a biopsy of the uterine lining to make sure it's nothing serious like pre-cancer of the uterus. Women over 40 experience greater swings in hormone levels and this could be cause, but, again, make an appt to protect yourself and know for certain that it's nothing worrisome. Also check thyroid.
