A member asked:

My 13 y/o daughter has type 1 dm she had a lab test named ia-2 antibody her result came back <0.8 what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Negative test?: Without having the normal range, it is hard to know but generally a "less than" level means it is below what the lab equipment can identify. An ia-2 test measures antibody against components of Insulin producing cells in the pancreas. It is only one of several antibodies that can be associated with type 1 dm. She may well have another antibody test that is positive.
