What's the difference between citalopram and mirtazapine?

Subtle difference: Citalopram stops serotonin from being recycled in the synapse, while Mirtazapine stops the feedback loop causing more serotonin and norepinephrine to be released into the synapse.

A lot: Citalopram is an ssri meaning that it causes increased amounts of serotonin in the brain. Mirtazapine is in its own unique class. Notably, Mirtazapine helps with sleep and does not have sexual side effects where neither are true with citalopram. Ask your psychiatrist for a full explanation.
