I don't think it is: Silly. However, it would be empowering to be able to handle this without that extra assistance. Breath in slowly & deeply through your nostrils. Fill your lungs with air (but not to the point of discomfort). Hold for a count of five then slowly begin to exhale through an open mouth. Repeat at least 12 times, longer if you need to.

No: No its not silly to ask to hold their hand. Look away and have someone you know stand and talk to you or another nurse or someone. You can read a magazine or do something that would take your attention away from getting your blood taken.
