First steps: If you haven't been, get tested. There are great neuropsychological tests out there that will help define the disorder and your strengths in functioning. Tailoring treatment to these functional strengths is key. It may take medication, but definitely will mean changes to the way you do things and try to process information.

Have it evaluated: The treatments available for this disorder are often schedule 2 controlled drugs that require prescription and are monitored by state and federal authorities. A proper evaluation by your physician along with charted documentation of your history and problems are necessary. Other non adhd issues can have symptoms that appear similar.
