? Food allergies: Allergic shiners are commonly caused by food allergies. All the drugs & shots in the world won't help if you are eating foods you are allergic to. Standard allergy tests won't reliably detect. Try an elimination diet- avoid all dairy, gluten, eggs, corn, soy & almonds for 10 days, then add back one at a time. Allergic Shiners: Hello, allergic shiners are related to a swelling in the nasal passages that cause a blood flow stasis in the lower eyelid areas. These medications and therapies may help but would require time. Seeing a dermatologist may be helpful for a good skin care plan to eliminate or reduce this problem.
