Rehabilitation: If you are not involved in a physical therapy and rehabilitation program, you need to seek this out immediately. Ms is a life long illness and you will continue to have problems with balance as the disease progresses. Find a good physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor (physiatrist) in your area to manage your rehab program to strengthen and retrain your body to move the best way you can.

PT: See your pm&r doc for specific exercise and therapy regimens that can regain balance, or slow progression of loss. They can be complex regimens, will include pt, often with specialists who have balance centers that will help re-train your vestibular system to a degree so that you will feel improved stability. The more therapy like this, the slower the progression. Hope this helps!

Couple approaches: Tough to reverse the cerebellar/ brainstem issues, but try these approaches: use of weighted bracelets or anklets to stabilize and control inaccurate motions, gait training from physical therapy, usage of ginger root if dizziness is present, trial of Buspar, (buspirone) discuss possible research trial drugs, make certain you do not have vitamin B-12 deficiency, or low vitamin D. (?thyroid, diabetes?)
