Connecting bones: Facets are the connecting bones of the vertebrae and each vertebrae has inferior and superior facets connecting to the lower and upper vertebrae. Sclerosis seen on imaging usually means hypertrophy of enlarged facets which often indicates a chronic overuse, past trauma or injury, and/or arthritis. It may be causing your back pain but if causes any radiating symptoms you should speak with your doc.

Uncertain for a 24 y: The facet sclerosis or arthritis is usually seen in older people and so I am uncertain the diagnosis is that. Lumbar strain means simply you have low back pain. Most often that is muscle but can be joint or even inflammatory. Ask your physicain for a second opinion from a rheumatologist. you need physical therapy and an exercise program

Yes: Facet refers to the small joints in the back that limit rotation and extension of the spine beyond a certain point. Sclerosis refers to increased bone density in the bone, often seen in degenerative arthritis. Lumbar refers to the area of the spine corresponding to your low back, strain is another way to say you may have " pulled a muscle".
